i've told every person i know that visits new york city to try and grab a reservation at shiki, and have been there twice myself (and now implore anyone out there, debating if they should give it a shot, to indeed give it a shot). not only is this such a good deal (starting at $65 for 12 pieces), but all of the ingredients used are so high quality, to the point that it's a little unbelievable that it is such an affordable omakase option compared to others in the city. the restaurant itself is small, with ~12 seats, but it doesn't feel cramped at all. just enough space for you to have your own experience, but also can easily engage with other patrons! the staff, especially the chefs that are hard at work to complete each of the 12+ pieces of sushi, are so sweet and attentive. + they are super accommodating when it comes to food allergies and preferences and ask if you'd like any adjustments to their preset menu. the most recent time i visited, the chef noticed my friend is left-handed and switched up how he was placing the sushi on her dish so it was easier for her to pick up. i think that attention to detail speaks to their work, and their desire for you to truly have a high-quality & valuable experience within the hour. i could not recommend shiki omakase enough!

Had my first omakase experience here. We got the 12 course omakase for $65 and it was so worth it! Everything was so fresh and delicious. My favorites were the wagyu and the toro with caviar. The service was great and the restaurant was so cute and clean. Highly recommend coming in for a great omakase experience!

Great service, great food. The waitresses were very attentive but I would've expected a little more fancy pitchers for water considering the cost of the experience. Worth a visit

Had a wonderful time sitting at the sushi bar. We ordered the bigger set and had 2 add ons. Everything is delicious. I can see they pay attention to the details and it was like watching the chef create art. I like how the chef asks id if it's the right amount of rice and wasabi. The truffle shavings on uni were superb! And it just got better and better. The summer and winter rolls are must gets!

My boyfriend and I have never done omakase before and someone recommended this place as an affordable place with good quality sushi. We were excited to try omakase without breaking the bank too much! We made reservations in advance but just a few hours prior, so it wasn't too booked out. It's a small spot, you sit around a u-shaped bar watching the sushi chefs. We enjoyed everything and had such a great experience! The sushi chef ensured we were happy throughout and adjusted the amount of wasabi based on our preference. We even added on one of the specialty items, which was very extra haha... it had uni, caviar, gold leaf, you name it - but it was delicious! The lighting is bright so it's not very romantic date night vibes but it's still a great time. Highly recommend!

My friend and I ordered the 12 pc Omakase and every piece of sushi was amazing! The fish quality was some of the best I've ever had and we got to see each piece carefully crafted by the chef. He even asked for our preferences for the amount of wasabi in each piece. The service was warm and welcoming too. We loved the intimate and unpretentious vibe the restaurant had too. We even offered the chef some sake! My friend and I were glad it wasn't the kind of Omakase restaurant where you were expected to speak very quietly. Overall we had and amazing meal and a great time. The price was a great value too. $65/person for the 12 pc Omakase!

For $65 this is such a legit and high-quality omakase spot in NYC at an unbeatably affordable price! Both their $65 12-course option and $100 17-course option are super yummy and worth it, serving very good quality fish and other items. The seared A5 Wagyu and also King Salmon were two of my favorites in particular. It's traditional Omakase bar seating, so you get the intimate personalized dining experience, and the chefs are super friendly and talkative, willing to go in detail about the food origin and preparation process. Overall this was a 10/10 experience for me in NYC, especially for that unbeatable price!

Was looking for a new date night spot and at this price point, Shiki omakase provides good value for money. Their 12 piece menu is just the right amount of food. Highlight for me was the A5 steak and uni combo piece, it was definitely unique. I didn't love the lack of a hand roll at the end though, they made us order it separately and it was not cheap. They also have a good selection of sake and beer, or you can BYO for a corkage fee. Make sure to arrive on time to savor the full experience!
